Born and raised in the boring city called Tokyo
「A girl who was "normally" broken (like Zelda Fitzgerald?)
A story about adventures and everyday life revolving around "love" and "capitalism."
"All work is prostitution," says J.L.G (Jean-Luc Godard), and I think so too. (omission)
And all work is also love. Love. Love, you know.
--- From the afterword of Kyoko Okazaki's 'pink'
Kyoko Okazaki 'pink' with Meriyasu Kataoka
One stuffed animal born from the first page of pink

I was born and raised in the "boring city called Tokyo" written in the manga's afterword.
and maybe being "normally" broken is the same.
The phrase "all work is prostitution" also makes sense to me,
I choose work thinking about how to pursue jobs that are not prostitution.
"And all work is also love" saves me, because I fight work with love.
If you live in this world, you get incorporated into capitalism, but how you swim within it is up to you.
rightness varies from person to person, and you are always required to find the right balance to stay true to yourself.
When I break down and think about the daily matters of choices and seeking answers,
I feel that money and stupid pride sit with a big face within capitalism.
I, broken and raised in the boring city called Tokyo, resist this huge object that sits with a big face,
She keeps making an extraordinary number of stuffed animals while laughing and farting. I am living here in my own way.
The protagonist Yumi-chan, and you too.
Reading this manga makes you think about how to live.
--- Meriyasu Kataoka
