●Content Introduction

A masterpiece among masterpieces that made Kyoko Okazaki's name known even in literary circles upon its first edition release in 1989, now published in a new edition. Critics have said, "Manga has become literature," and it is no exaggeration to say that the high level of completion established her position in the manga world. Usually, Yumi-chan, an ordinary office lady, secretly keeps a crocodile at home and works as a hotel girl (!) to afford its food and not give up what she likes. Involved are Haruo, who aspires to be a writer but is the lover of her stepmother; her stepsister Keiko; and the stepmother, who is never compatible. While including realistic sex scenes, the work depicts money and true love. The paneling reminiscent of Jean-Luc Godard, whom she admires, the dry dialogue that hits the truth, character depiction, and the sense of the times are unique to Kyoko Okazaki.
