Sho Sakurai of Arashi first appeared in 'Casa BRUTUS' in the September 2010 issue. In a project titled 'To the Sacred Place of Architecture & Art, Naoshima,' he toured various Setouchi facilities including museums designed by architect Tadao Ando.

Starting from the March 2011 issue, the series began as 'Sho Sakurai's Journey to Learn Architecture.' Since then, in the ongoing series, Mr. Sakurai has visited over 150 architectural sites. He has met various architects whom Japan proudly presents to the world, including Tadao Ando, Toyo Ito, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Kengo Kuma, Terunobu Fujimori, SANAA, Shigeru Ban, Sou Fujimoto, Junya Ishigami, Tsuyoshi Tane, and has learned about architecture.

Therefore, upon turning the 15-year-long series into a book, we will publish 'Sho Sakurai's Journey Around Architecture. [Contemporary Architecture Edition],' which organizes the visits to contemporary architecture by architect.

Upon the publication of this book, Mr. Sakurai said the following.

The 'Casa BRUTUS' series finally becomes a book titled 'Sho Sakurai's Journey Around Architecture.'
I had always wanted to compile and deliver it in a book someday, so being able to realize that is, first of all, a long-cherished wish!
And as the title 'A Journey to Learn Architecture' suggests, since I have only learned from the standpoint of someone who doesn't know architecture, I think the fun will be conveyed even to those who are not familiar with architecture.
On the other hand, what I always think is that no matter how beautifully photos and words try to convey the charm of architecture, there is inevitably a limit. After all, nothing beats actually visiting, so I hope this book will be an opportunity for everyone to actually feel the architecture. I believe there is an emotion beyond the pages.

This is Mr. Sho Sakurai's first and long-awaited book, so please look forward to it!
