<"Magazine House" Shinsho inaugural volume>
"Richness in not discarding" rather than "lightness in discarding."
"A reversal idea to live in the 'post-COVID new era'!"
There is a very famous Italian fashion designer named Giorgio Armani. Born in 1934. His interview appeared in the Yomiuri Shimbun in June 2021.
Regarding the current COVID-19 crisis, Mr. Armani said, "I think it will be an opportunity to slow down the speed of everything and rearrange."
And the fashion industry has come to a time to stop and think, needing to create things that are not swayed by changing trends. Making things that last long by always wearing them is the sustainable path the fashion industry should take──.
I also agree with the opinion that this is not an era to buy大量に衣服を買い込んで短期間だけ着て捨ててしまう, throw away clothes after wearing them only briefly. The method of "acquiring a lot and discarding a lot" is by no means a sustainable lifestyle.
"Armani" is a fashion brand thought to be favored by the upper class. The words spoken by the head of such a luxury brand, looking at the times, sounded very fresh to me.
"A way of life that doesn't throw things away" isn't bad either──.
Whether it was hard to obtain or easy to get, the things you have now hold the emotions and scenes from when you acquired them, as well as the spent over years and decades.
I never say "don't throw away." However, I want you to know that there is a wonderful logic behind the feelings of not being able to throw things away and the way of life that does not discard things. (From the "Preface")
From the author's own "non-disposal lifestyle" to Buddhist "thoughts on discarding/not discarding," and "what this country has discarded"... hints for living richly after COVID-19!
● How to live with the increasing number of things
● The "emptiness" lurking in a simple life
● Things are devices that awaken "memories"
● "Junk" is our lonely friend
● Aging vibrantly
● Keep relationships shallow, yet long-lasting
● What Honen and Shinran tried to abandon
● Civilization matures precisely by looking back at the past, etc.
